Liebster Award – awesome questions!

Without offending anyone who has in the recent past nominated me for awards which have not been acknowledged yet, I only accepted this award because the questions that the lady running coffeegrounded’s blog asked are crazy awesome!

Check them out :

  • If you could, would you travel into space?

I most certainly would! Though I am not sure how much help I would be to the ISS people or the ISRO, NASA, ESA scientists!

  • How old were you when you learned to tie your shoes?

Mother says I was three. I believe her.

  • Snow skiing, or horseback riding?

I recently saw some videos which showed what you should do when stuck in an avalanche while snow skiing. The death statistics are alarmingly high. I’d choose horseback riding.

  • Favorite book of all time?

Little Women. Looking for Alaska. Many Lives, Many Masters. And the Harry Potter series. Was I supposed to choose just one book?

  • Name your favorite hobby?

Writing! Hands down winner.

  • If money wasn’t a factor, what would you purchase immediately?

A horse. Why? I just chose to go horse back riding! Duh.

  • Who’s the better cook, you or your significant other?

Well, as of now, I can only hope that my significant other turns out to be a better cook than me!

  • Which do you prefer:  t.v. news broadcast, Internet news, hardcopy newspaper?

The newspaper in hand. Anytime.

  • Would you abolish Daylight Savings time (null to folks in Arizona and Hawaii)?

Like Hawaii and Arizona, India also doesn’t use Daylight Savings time. And you can’t abolish something which doesn’t exist, so no, I wouldn’t.

  • Do you hoard pennies, or leave them in the tray on the counter?

I hoard them until I have more than I can handle! Then, I want to just lose them somewhere!

  • Name your favorite board game.

Snakes and Ladder! Unpredictable, light and such climatic finishes! And you don’t need skills to play that one either. Just roll the die and enjoy the hilarious situations you land up in.

I nominate anyone who finds my questions amusing enough to be answered.

Here they are :

  1. If you could choose one superpower, what would it be and why?
  2. Which is better – Harry Potter the book or Harry Potter the film? If you haven’t experienced either, I am so disappointed!
  3. Which was the last picture you took with your phone?
  4. What’s the colour of your toothbrush?
  5. If you could be a flower, which one would you be?
  6. Polar bear or Penguin?
  7. You just won a free ticket to anywhere on Earth. Where would you go?
  8. Koala bear or Panda?
  9. If you could marry a fictional character, who would it be and why?
  10. What question do you hate to answer?
  11. What’s the answer to answer 10?

Graciously Yours!

Liebster Award.

Liebster 2
Archita has been kind enough to nominate me for the Liebster Award. Thank you! The young one writes amazing poems. You’d often wonder where she gets those thoughts from! Apologies for acknowledging the award so late!
So here are the rules:
1. Thank the blogger who nominated you.
2. Use the picture for the award.
3. Answer the ten questions given to you.
4. Nominate fellow bloggers for the award to pass on.
5. Set ten question for them to answer.
1. How did you came up with your first blog title?

Honestly, my first blog was created in a haste of excitement and since I couldn’t come up with anything I just googled for blog name creators and chose the one I loved most out of what they churned out for me. Embarrassing, huh? Oh and this isn’t my first blog!

2. Who is your favourite hollywood star?

Julia Roberts.

3. What is the name of your favourite tv show?

Castle. Hands down!

4. If you were to have a library of your own, which genre of books would they have the most?

I think mystery and suspense thrillers. And all classics I can lay my hands on!

5. What type of food do you prefer the most?

Salads! And fruits. I love them!

6. Who is your favourite author?

I cannot name one! Alcott, O Henry, Saki, Ruskin Bond, Rowling! To name just a few. They’re the ones who come to mind first.

7. If you get a chance to go on a world tour with a celebrity (any field), who would that person be?

Someone who can talk well. Someone who can look good when not talking. Someone fit enough to try all those adventures on my bucket list. And someone who can do things I can’t (assuming we won’t be going with the celebrity’s entourage of assistants!).

Vikas Khanna.

Okay, fine! I’m only saying Vikas because he looks really good! And also maybe because his interviews make him sound sensible.

8. Who is your favourite blogger?

My all time favorite blogger has to be Prashant from Just Spoken Thoughts.
He has always uplifted my spirits and encouraged me in the kindest of ways! I miss him because he is busier serving the country these days, so I can’t even complain about it actually!

And current favorite? That is really, really tough! But I think I’ll go with Naima from Globalunison and Prateek from The Uncertainty Principle. Words just fluidly essay their thoughts and you never realize how far you’ve been carried away until you realize you’re happily lost. It’s always a pleasure reading their work!

9. Arrange these in your preference order: career, food, love?

Food, love, career! Simple logic – without food, I can’t live with my love. And in order to not be a financial burden on my love, I’ll be focusing on my career.

10. Which one is your own favourite post?
Taking the breath away!

The nominees will have to answer these questions:
  1. How did you land up on WordPress?
  2. Apart from writing, what are your other passions?
  3. Bungee jumping or scuba diving?
  4. Bollywood or Hollywood?
  5. Jhumpa Lahiri or Dan Brown?
  6. Online shopping or bargaining?
  7. One life experience which broke you then left you stronger?
  8. What is your favourite quote?
  9. What do you think is the biggest problem being faced by the world today?
  10. What is that one question you want to be asked?

I would like to nominate anyone who likes or comments on this post! Please acknowledge the nomination 🙂 The award is all yours!

Graciously Yours!

This post was really long due!

Thank you, Prateek, for getting me out of my slumber! And nominating me for the Versatile Blogger award! He’s a recent addition to our WordPress family but his posts are very mature for an amateur. He’s going to bowl you over with his words and charm. Go check out his blog, after you’ve read mine 😉

Presenting 7 facts about me with a twist (With a bonus.)!

The day I came across this picture I realized how true it is. And yes, I have been blessed with a few of that kind! That also probably explains the lack of selfies on my phone with them!

Only comment on this, if you agree. Those who disagree, be tolerant enough to ignore. God would like it. (And so would I.)

You said it once. I didn’t get you. You said it twice. Still don’t get you. Thrice? *Fake laugh* . I can’t ask you for the fourth time, come on!

Exactly my point! And anyway, the Bollywood songs of my parents’ generations are much better than the ‘hookah bar’, ‘vodka’ and ‘baby doll’ songs being churned out by our generation. Occasionally gyrating to them is understandable. Chanting them like an anthem? Ridiculous!

They may start noticing it now. Ouch!

I am afraid if I don’t I will forget my grammar. And English spellings. My worst nightmare, probably! And also because I can’t stand wrong grammar. It pops out at me!

Don’t tell me you have never done this? Come on. At least once? At that night stay? Or when you were fooling around with your cousins? Or teaching your younger sibling nonsense? Still no? Try it tonight then!

8. Bonus point!

I’ll let the picture speak for itself!

The Liebster Award.

Lo Behold!

Another award! Out of the blue! By the Purrfect or as she calls herself “Not-so purrfectgirl” I love the rolling of the R! Thank you, dear! ❤

This time it’s the LIEBSTER AWARD, the word Liebster having German origins and several definitions like dearest, sweetest, kindest, nicest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing! Phew! That is a lot!

Now. With great power comes great responsibilities. Same applies to awards, I believe!

So. Here goes!

1. Thank the Liebster Award presenter who nominated you and link back to his or her blog. (Already done!)

2. Post 11 facts about yourself, answer the 11 questions you were asked and create 11 questions for your nominees. (That is a lot of hard work!)

3. Nominate small (no more than 1000 followers) blogs who you feel deserve to be noticed and leave a comment on their blog letting them know that they have been chosen. (This is fun!)

4. Display the Liebster Award logo. (Of course!)

5. No tag-backs, meaning you can’t just re-nominate the person who nominated you. (That is sad!)

My answers first :

1. Have you ever done something you weren’t sure you could do? Are you happy now that you did it ?

I completed my #100happydays! I was almost sure I wouldn’t be able to manage that one. Of course I am happy. Oh and another thing. I was not sure if I could get an All India Ranking in my Chartered Accountancy exams. But. Hold your breath. Scored the 38th All India Rank!

2. What role does music play in your life?

Music is like the background score of my life. When it’s on, I may rarely acknowledge it, but it’s absence is like a deafening silence. Music calms me. Music excites me.

3. If you could change this entire world, how would it be? Is there room for bad in it?

I would make people more receptive towards each other. I would make them realize they weren’t born to mint money but to mint love. Of course there would be room for bad. You still need that spice in your life!

4. When was the time you have almost lost all your senses, because you couldn’t control you excitement?

When I first spoke to my idol, Sourav Ganguly asking him for an interview! 😀  The timings however didn’t materialize finally. That’s another issue altogether.

5. Are you a people person?

Yes. Definitely a people person. But I have my choice of the people I would want to be a person to!

6. If you could become a Disney character who would it be and why?

Now that I have seen Khoobsurat, definitely Mili Chakraborty! Purely based on how the character has been etched. 🙂

7. Is the world going in the right direction ?

Definitely not! But then who knows? Maybe the world thinks I am not going in the right direction!

8. Your take on celebrities.

They can be entertaining for only a while. Otherwise, a pain. I cannot see myself screaming my lungs out and running after them. No, not even Siddarth Malhotra or Fawad Khan.

9. One quality of yours you would like to throw inside the trash can!!!

I can get insecure at times. But then, who doesn’t?

10. Coffee , Tea or Selfie ? 😉

Haha! Coffee, surely!

11. If you could get the chance to save a life or end a life, what would you chose and who would it be?

Save a life. Lot of people whom I would save. My family, a lot of my friends, even my boss! Or rather, if I get a chance, I think I would save any life rather than end one.

11 random facts? That is a lot!

  1. At one point of time I was confused as to whether I should go for Chartered Accountancy or journalism or psychology!
  2. I love House M.D. and hate Grey’s Anatomy. Anyone who’s seen both will know I love human psychology and intrigue over lust and emotional conquests.
  3. My favorite sitcom Castle, by the way, has all four – human psychology, intrigue, lust and emotional conquests. So if you “Really are ruggedly handsome”, I might give you a chance!
  4. I love dancing, though I am not formally trained.
  5. I love looking at the moon. It’s a habit which came to me years ago because of a friend’s continued pings about “how beautiful the moon is” every night!
  6. I have admittedly fallen for jerks, until one of the greatest guys I’ve known came along.
  7. I do not believe in idol worship, but I am not an atheist.
  8. I DO NOT LIKE Shah Rukh Khan, the actor!
  9. I’d rather sit at home sketching, reading, writing or spend an entire day with friends than go for shopping for a full day!
  10. I have a boss, who’s more of a mentor than a tormentor!
  11. I’d love to go trekking some day, if I can get over my fear of snakes!

Now the questions I’d love to raise to my nominees :

  1. What/who was the inspiration behind starting a blog?
  2. Which writer’s works did you fall in love with?
  3. Dan Brown or Ruskin Bond?
  4. Which is your favorite literary character?
  5. Which book would you like to see being converted into a film?
  6. Are your works influenced more by your life experiences or that of people around you?
  7. Who’s your hero in life?
  8. What makes you smile?
  9. If you have some spare time, what do you do?
  10. Home cooked meal or restaurant?
  11. What is the one question you’d love to be asked? And what would your answer be?

And the nominations are (drum roll, please!):

  1. Another 11 followers and she won’t be eligble for the nomination! “The ‘S’ word” by Girl Suele.
  2. Cat Jenkins. You have to read the blog. It’s written with such passion for words!
  3. The blog is like the Punjabi soul who writes it – full of wit, humour and fun! Me and my random thoughts.
  4. Just started recently, but puts forward strong and powerful thoughts. Short stories from India.
  5. The art of a rambling mind. It’ll take your breath away!

Graciously Yours!

Awards Night!

Till two days ago, I was just another blogger in this WordPress world of super-awesome bloggers!

What’s changed?

Two of my fellow bloggers found me to be brilliant enough to be awarded with the “Sunshine award” and the “Versatile Blogger award”. I cannot tell you how happy, privileged, honoured and absolutely gracious I am to you, Purrfect Girl and Indian Humour!
